What happens during surgery?

WHAT TO EXPECT
Recovery and aftercare
Most patients experience swelling and bruising for 1 to 2 weeks. You can usually return to work or normal activities within this time. Full healing and the final shape of your nose may take up to 12 months to become fully apparent.
PHASE 1
Weeks 1-2
Swelling and bruising are most noticeable. You’ll wear a splint and may feel some nasal congestion. Most patients return to work after 1–2 weeks. Bruising begins to fade.
PHASE 2
Weeks 3-8
You can resume light exercise after about 3 weeks. Swelling continues to subside. Most activities can be resumed by week 6-8. The nose begins to settle into its final shape.
PHASE 3
Months 3-12
Residual swelling decreases, especially at the tip. Final results are visible by around 12 months, when all swelling should be gone. Results are long-lasting.

Will there be visible scarring?
In closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are inside the nose – no visible scars. In open rhinoplasty, a small scar may be present but usually fades significantly over time.
What are the risks of rhinoplasty?
While rhinoplasty is generally safe and well-tolerated, like any surgery it carries potential risks. These may include scarring, usually hidden inside the nostrils or at the base of the nose, infection or bleeding which is rare with proper aftercare, minor asymmetry or the need for revision surgery in some cases, and temporary or, rarely, permanent changes in nasal airflow. Our surgical team will explain all potential risks during your consultation.
Is rhinoplasty painful?
The surgery is done under general anesthesia, so you won’t feel pain during the procedure. Post-op discomfort is mild and manageable with medication.
