ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
What is Breast Enlargement?
Breast augmentation, commonly referred to as a “boob job,” is a cosmetic surgery procedure that enhances the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts. It is most often performed using silicone or saline implants, or in some cases via fat transfer for a more natural option.
Many women choose breast augmentation to restore lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, to correct unevenness, or simply to feel more confident in their bodies.
This procedure is ideal for women in good health who have realistic expectations and are looking to improve their breast aesthetics. During your free consultation, your board-certified surgeon will walk you through the available options and help you decide what’s right for you.
Silicone or saline?
We offer a choice of implant types to suit your desired feel, appearance, and lifestyle. Your surgeon will help you choose during your consultation.
Silicone Implants
Filled with cohesive gel that closely mimics the feel of natural breast tissue. Silicone implants are the most popular choice and are available in round or teardrop shapes.
- Natural look and feel
- Cohesive gel filling
- Round or teardrop shape options
- Less likely to show visible rippling
Saline Implants
Filled with sterile salt water. Saline implants are inserted empty and filled during surgery, which can allow for a smaller incision and adjustable volume.
- Sterile salt water filling
- Smaller incision possible
- Adjustable volume during surgery
- If rupture occurs, saline is safely absorbed by the body
A thorough consultation determines which approach – or a combined strategy – is appropriate for you.
CANDIDACY
Is breast enlargement right for you?
Breast augmentation can enhance breast size and shape, improve body proportions and silhouette, and deliver a significant boost in confidence and self-image. Outcomes are fully customizable to your goals and results are long-lasting with proper care. The procedure is best suited for women in good health with realistic expectations.
You might be a good candidate for breast augmentation if:
- You're unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts
- You've lost volume due to aging, pregnancy, or weight loss
- You want to correct asymmetry or achieve a more balanced figure
- You're in good health with realistic expectations
The goal is never to sell surgery. It is to ensure any procedure recommended is safe, appropriate, and likely to deliver a meaningful result.
THE PROCEDURE
What happens during surgery?
The surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1 to 2 hours. Your surgeon will place the implants either beneath the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle, depending on your anatomy and desired results.
Implant placement
1-2 hours
The implants are carefully positioned to create a natural-looking and symmetrical result. We offer a variety of implant types, including round or teardrop shapes and saline or silicone materials, to suit your desired feel and appearance.
Incision options
Minimal scarring
Incision placement varies based on your preference and what your surgeon recommends. Common incision sites include along the lower edge of the areola, in the natural fold beneath the breast, or in the armpit (transaxillary approach).

WHAT TO EXPECT
Recovery and aftercare
Most patients return to work within 1 to 2 weeks. Full recovery typically takes 6 to 12 weeks, during which time you’ll gradually resume normal activities.
PHASE 1
Weeks 1-2
Swelling, bruising, and tightness around the chest are normal. You will be given a support bra to wear during initial healing. Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity. Most patients return to desk-based work within 1 to 2 weeks.
PHASE 2
Weeks 3-6
Swelling continues to subside and the implants begin to settle into a more natural position. Light exercise can gradually resume. Follow your surgeon’s guidance on when to return to full activity.
PHASE 3
Months 2-3
Final results become fully apparent as the implants settle and swelling resolves completely. Results are long-lasting with proper care. Implants are not considered lifetime devices and may need replacement after 10 to 15 years.
You’ll receive a personalized aftercare plan with clear instructions on wound care, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to support optimal healing.
