ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
What is Male Liposuction?
Male liposuction is a cosmetic body contouring procedure designed to remove stubborn fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise. Common treatment areas for men include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), chest, and neck.
This treatment is best suited for men who are close to their ideal weight but want to refine their body shape and achieve a more toned, masculine appearance. It’s not a weight-loss solution but a targeted approach to sculpting a more defined silhouette.
Traditional or vaser?
Transform offers two approaches to liposuction for men. Your surgeon will recommend the most suitable technique based on your goals and anatomy.
Traditional Liposuction
A thin cannula is inserted through small, discreet incisions to break up and suction out unwanted fat. A tumescent fluid is injected to numb the area, reduce bleeding, and make fat removal easier.
- Targets stubborn fat in the abdomen, flanks, chest, and neck
- Effective for larger areas and higher volume removal
- Small, discreet incisions with minimal scarring
- 1 to 3 hours procedure time
Vaser Liposuction
Uses ultrasound energy to gently loosen fat cells before removal, resulting in smoother contours and less trauma to surrounding tissues. Ideal for precision sculpting and enhanced muscle definition.
- Ultrasound energy targets fat while preserving surrounding tissue
- Smoother contours and faster recovery compared to traditional liposuction
- Ideal for enhancing muscle visibility and definition
- Minimally invasive with less bruising and swelling
Your surgeon will recommend whether upper, lower, or both eyelids should be treated based on a thorough clinical assessment.
CANDIDACY
Is male liposuction right for you?
Male liposuction sculpts and defines the abdomen, chest, flanks, and more, improving body proportions and muscle visibility. The procedure is minimally invasive with small incisions and limited downtime. Fat removal is permanent when a stable weight is maintained, and many men experience a significant boost in self-confidence and satisfaction with their body image.
You may be a good candidate for male liposuction if:
- You are at or near your ideal weight
- You have localized fat deposits that don't respond to diet and exercise
- You're in overall good health
- You have realistic expectations for the outcome
The goal is never to sell surgery. It is to ensure any procedure recommended is safe, appropriate, and likely to deliver a meaningful result.
THE PROCEDURE
What happens during surgery?
Male liposuction is typically performed under local anesthesia or light sedation to keep you comfortable. The procedure usually takes 1 to 3 hours, depending on the number of areas being treated.
Fat removal
1-3 hours
The surgeon begins by making small, discreet incisions near the treatment area. A tumescent fluid is injected to numb the area, reduce bleeding, and make fat removal easier. A thin cannula is inserted to break up and suction out the fat. In some cases, ultrasound-assisted liposuction is used to help liquefy fat for easier removal.
Compression and healing
Pressure garment 4-6 weeks
A compression garment is worn to support healing, reduce swelling, and help the skin conform to the new contours.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Recovery and aftercare
Most men can return to work and light activity within 1 to 2 weeks. Full recovery typically takes 6 to 8 weeks. A pressure garment is worn for 4 to 6 weeks to support healing, reduce swelling, and help the skin conform to the new contours.
PHASE 1
Weeks 1-2
Swelling, bruising, and temporary numbness are normal. You will wear a pressure garment for 4 to 6 weeks to reduce swelling and support healing. Mild discomfort may occur and can be managed with medication. Avoid strenuous activity. Most men return to work and light activity within 1 to 2 weeks.
PHASE 2
Weeks 3-6
Swelling continues to subside. Light exercise can gradually resume. Continue wearing the pressure garment as directed. The body begins to settle into its new contours. Scars are minimal and fade significantly over time.
PHASE 3
Months 7-8
Full recovery is typically complete. Fat cells removed during liposuction don’t grow back. Maintaining a stable weight is important as remaining fat cells can still expand with weight gain. Final contours become fully visible.
You’ll receive a personalized aftercare plan with clear instructions on wound care, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to support optimal healing.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure usually takes between 1 and 3 hours, depending on how many areas are being treated.
Is the procedure painful?
No. Liposuction is performed under local anesthesia or sedation, so there’s little to no pain during the procedure. Afterward, mild discomfort may occur and can be managed with medication.
How much fat can be removed?
What is the recovery time?
Are the results permanent?
Will there be visible scarring?
Scarring is minimal. Incisions are small and strategically placed in hidden or less noticeable areas, and they usually fade significantly over time.
What are the risks?
As with any surgical procedure, male liposuction carries some potential risks including swelling, bruising, or temporary numbness, minor scarring which is usually well-hidden and fades over time, and in rare cases asymmetry, skin irregularities, or infection. Choosing an experienced, board-certified surgeon and following post-operative instructions will minimize these risks and support a smooth recovery.
