What is Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)?
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as nose surgery, is a highly personalised procedure designed to reshape and refine the nose for aesthetic or functional reasons. Whether you’re looking to enhance facial harmony or correct breathing issues, rhinoplasty can address a wide range of concerns.
This procedure can correct:
- A crooked or asymmetrical nose
- A prominent hump on the bridge
- A bulbous or drooping nasal tip
- Uneven or wide nostrils
- Structural issues affecting airflow and breathing
Rhinoplasty is often performed to improve appearance, but it’s also highly effective in treating congenital abnormalities, post-traumatic deformities, and functional nasal blockages.
Patients may choose to:
- Narrow the nasal bridge
- Refine the tip for a more defined shape
- Adjust nostril size or symmetry
- Restore balance to overall facial proportions
Ideal candidates are generally healthy individuals who have realistic expectations and have completed facial growth typically age 18 and older.
Whether your goal is to enhance appearance or restore function, our board-certified surgeons tailor each rhinoplasty procedure to your unique facial structure and goals, ensuring natural-looking and lasting results.
What Happens During Surgery?
Rhinoplasty surgery typically involves making incisions inside the nose, or occasionally across the base, depending on the surgical approach. Through these incisions, the surgeon reshapes the bone and cartilage to refine the nasal structure. In functional cases, the nasal septum may also be corrected to improve airflow and breathing. The procedure usually takes between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity.
After surgery, a splint is applied to support and protect the new shape of the nose during healing. Swelling and bruising are common in the days following the procedure but will gradually subside over the next few weeks.

Is Nose Surgery Right For Me?
Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, may be right for you if you’re looking to enhance the appearance of your nose, correct breathing problems, or repair damage caused by injury or trauma. The best candidates are individuals in good overall health with realistic expectations about the outcome. During your consultation, our expert surgeons will evaluate your goals and anatomy to recommend the most suitable approach for your needs.
Rhinoplasty can significantly improve both the form and function of your nose. Key benefits include:
- A more balanced, harmonious facial appearance
- Correction of structural issues such as a hump, wide bridge, or bulbous tip
- Improved breathing by addressing nasal obstructions or a deviated septum
- Long-lasting aesthetic and functional results
- Enhanced self-confidence and satisfaction with your overall facial profile
- With proper aftercare, rhinoplasty results are durable and can last for many years, providing both cosmetic and medical benefits.
While rhinoplasty is generally a safe and well-tolerated procedure, like any surgery, it carries potential risks. These may include:
- Scarring, usually hidden inside the nostrils or at the base of the nose
- Infection or bleeding (rare with proper aftercare)
- Minor asymmetry or the need for revision surgery in some cases
- Temporary or, rarely, permanent changes in nasal airflow
Our surgical team will explain all potential risks during your consultation and ensure you feel fully informed and confident before moving forward.

FAQ's
Considering cosmetic surgery often raises important questions about the procedure, recovery, and long-term results. Our rhinoplasty FAQs provide clear, straightforward answers to help you feel informed and confident every step of the way.
During rhinoplasty, the surgeon makes small incisions, typically inside the nostrils or at the base of the nose to reshape the bone and cartilage. The procedure may involve reducing or increasing nasal size, refining the nasal tip, or correcting structural issues to improve breathing, depending on your specific goals.
Rhinoplasty may be a good fit if you’re in overall good health, have realistic expectations, and are looking to improve the shape or function of your nose. A personal consultation with one of our experienced surgeons will help determine whether the procedure is appropriate for you.
Yes. Rhinoplasty is often performed alongside other facial enhancements, such as chin augmentation, eyelid surgery, or a facelift. Combining procedures can help achieve more balanced and natural-looking results.
While initial improvements are visible within a few weeks, it can take up to 12 months for all swelling to subside and the final shape of your nose to fully settle.
Most patients experience swelling and bruising for 1 to 2 weeks. You can usually return to work or normal activities within this time. However, full healing including subtle refinements can take several months. Your surgeon will provide detailed aftercare instructions to support a smooth recovery.
